The Crimp Iron, bring it back or keep it under lock and key?

Oh yes, we remember the good old days of crimp irons and neon colors. I went to look for a crimp iron just because I was having a fond memory of my childhood. I remember sitting there in front of the stand up mirror for an extended amount of time trying to get that perfect crimp in my hair. It took a lot if patience going section by section for that perfectly fried looking mess that we called style! Much to my surprise I couldn't find one at any store. My own iron has been long gone. So, the mission began, the desperate search for the crimper! I finally stumbled upon one on eBay. It was a "vintage" Belson Crimp Iron. The bidding began. I was determined to "win" this item. When I received it in the mail I opened it right away, ready to relive my childhood through the power of crimp! Instructions, let heat up for 12-18 minutes. So I patiently waited. I forgot how long it used to take to heat up a hot tool. Mom would plug in her curling tools and we would have breakfast while waiting on them to heat up. When it was finally hot I sectioned off my hair and the crimping started. When I was done I looked at the results and laughed. I can see why you can't buy one at the stores anymore. It was absolutely as terrible now as it was then. My conclusion is we either need to keep it packed away for our 80's parties or try to learn how to do a more modern day crimp.
Here is what I found, use small accent pieces in with straight hair to add fun texture. Or do a few pieces on the underneath and interior of the hair to show some peek a boo pieces. In the picture you will see Beyonce is rocking it the right way. In conclusion to my crimping iron quest, would you say love it or leave it? Still undetermined by me.

Taylor Swift Curls

There is definitely a way to achieve her beautiful look. The curls can be mimicked by using a styling product such as a curl cream. This helps to maintain moisture in your hair and leave you with healthy looking locks. Take inch partings or less and lightly spray with a working spray. Use a Curl Wand instead if a traditional iron. Wrap the hair around the wand for a few seconds and then release. Once the entire head is done, take a light texture cream and finger through to break apart some of the curl. You will be left with beautiful Taylor Swift style waves. The Trial Run

The Trial Run is very important in your Wedding Planning. This gives you the opportunity to decide what your final look will be for the big day. Although it is not required, it is highlu recommended. On your wedding day we try to stick to a pretty strict schedule in order to accomodate all involved. Even though the bride is the most important that day, we like to leave time for the bridesmaids as well. Ther is no time for maybes on the wedding day. Come in a few months ahead of time and try out a couple of styles if you wish. Bring your camera and a friend for a second opinion. When scheduling, try to time it on the day of your bridal portraits. If you are not doing portraits, make it on a day where you have the time to wear it for a while. Winter Blonde

We all love pale ivory blonde with a golden tan. That was great for summer. No that the weather is changing along with our skin tones it is time to warm it up. As our skin gets cooler our hair and makeup should get warmer. Add buttery blonde and caramel into the pale strands to make a perfect winter blonde. The contrast of the three shades will warm up any cold day.

Hair tips

Women with with pink tones in their skin should stick with cool tones for their hair. This will help neutralize the complexion. Reds and golds should be avoided.

Yellow or olive complexions should stay away from golds, orange, and yellows. Add in deep reds or burgundy for fall.

Pale creamy white skin tones should
Choose dark colors to illuminate the skin. Don't be afraid to try burgundy or even black.

Race for the Cure

Feathers

<p>The biggest trend this year has been rooster feathers.&nbsp; I am not sure how it all started but I can say it had been huge!&nbsp; I know all the celebrities are making it trendy, such as Steven Tyler.&nbsp; We all watched him on American Idol this past year.&nbsp; We were always pleasantly surprised to see his great attention to detail with his hair. The perfect messy wave with the accidental highlight or two were accompanied by several feathers. 
At first everyone was on the mad search for these hair feathers.  They couldn't be just any kind.  The only ones that really stand the text of time are the rooster feathers.  That's right, they actually come from the neck of the rooster.  They can be cut, dyed, washed, curled, or straightened just like human hair.  They are assembled with  a tiny crimp bead onto a few hair strands.
They are super cute.  We carry then in any color we are able to get.  Right now pink is in the air for October  breast cancer awareness. Others are choosing team colors. Breastfest 2011

We have teamed up with Lowcountry Plastic Surgery Center, Suede Supper Club, and Apex Broadcasting in Charleston, SC to raise money for breast cancer awareness.  Our campaign will be every Friday night for 5 weeks.  We will be selling raffle tickets and giving away some great prizes at Suede. The girls from Vanity Salon will be selling hot pink feathers for the cure.  Come out and join us to raise awareness and raise money for breast cancer.
